That question became ASKIA.

How It Started

I was tired of choosing between beverages that tasted good but were full of sugar, or "healthy" options that tasted like compromised disappointment. Why couldn't something be both delicious AND good for you?

After spending time in France, I was struck by how Europeans approached wellness—not as a restriction, but as a daily ritual. A moment of pause. An intentional choice. I wanted to bring that philosophy home, bottled.

So I started experimenting in my kitchen. Roselle from Egypt. Mint from Morocco. Ginger from Southeast Asia. I wasn't looking to create "just another sparkling water"—I was searching for something that honored both the ingredients and the people who would drink it.

Why "ASKIA"?

The name comes from the Songhai Empire—one of the largest and most sophisticated civilizations in African history. Askia Muhammad the Great was known for creating systems of learning, trade, and culture that connected continents.

That's what we're doing, in our own small way. Connecting botanicals from around the world—Egyptian roselle, Moroccan mint, Southeast Asian ginger—and creating something that honors each ingredient's origin while making it accessible to everyone.

Plus, we love that "ASKIA" sounds like "ask ya"—because this journey started with a question. And we think the best things always do.

We Source Like Wine Makers

Our roselle comes from small farms in Upper Egypt where the soil and climate create the deepest, most complex flavor. Our mint is hand-harvested in the Atlas Mountains. We visit our suppliers. We know their names. We taste every harvest. This isn't just supply chain management—it's curation.

Every batch goes through sensory analysis, pH testing, and taste panels. We document bubble size. We measure carbonation retention. We've created proprietary brewing methods that maximize antioxidant preservation while maintaining flavor balance. Yes, we're that obsessive.

From the bottle shape to the label typography, every detail is intentional. We wanted something you'd be proud to have on your desk, your dinner table, or your Instagram. Beauty isn't superficial—it's part of the ritual.

Where We're Going

We're just getting started. Three flavors now, more coming soon. We're experimenting with seasonal botanicals, exploring new regions, and constantly pushing what sparkling wellness can be.
